Bunny
Bunny by Mona Awad.
Feels like it'd hit different if I was a woman
Reading Bunny feels like playing Unbeatable; a non-stop chaotic, kinetic mess that's always making you feel something. Unlike Unbeatable the thing you're feeling tends to vacillate between mild unease and horror.
Bunny is essentially Mean Girls but if the titular girls were a coven and the movie was R18+/way darker. I frequently finished a chapter then took a break because I'd just been gifted some fresh nightmare, but I quickly picked it back up again to see what else could go horribly wrong in Samantha's life. There are multiple twists, all pretty well set up in a way that leaves you thinking you could've noticed if you paid more attention, and the moment to moment writing is pretty great. I enjoyed this enough that I'll definitely read the sequel, and probably some other stuff by Mona Awad cos if this is her style I like it.
