I bought this as another attempt to nostalgia-bait The Wife into enjoying gaming after Axyz ended up being more fun for me than someone who played Kula World decades ago. This time was much more successful, as she actively asked to play Moomintroll multiple times (and in quick succession!). I even had a good time watching her play, as the hand-drawn aesthetic and funny/charming characters kept me interested while the mostly frictionless gameplay kept us moving forward.

Moomintroll essentially boils down to a point & click adventure game with a few slightly more active minigames, but the charm of its characters and story set it apart. Trudging through the snow as Moomintroll, solving the problems of adults and mystical beings seemingly incapable of doing so on their own is a great time and there are plenty of lightly hidden secrets or side stories to discover along the way. Overall it's a chill time which isn't going to challenge anyone but will offer a relaxing and entertaining 8 hours or so. Well worth a try if you're a fan of the books.
