Nubby's Number Factory
Number go up in its purest form
Why
- Great second screen game
- Very committed to its excellent blobby aesthetic
- You can have runs so broken that it doesn't matter where you launch the ball
- Probably not something you can sink hundreds of hours into
Why Not
- Probably not something you can sink hundreds of hours into
- (Seemingly) not that much strategic depth
Impressions
I put in about 2 hours of shifts at Nubby's Number Factory while watching League, and it did its job of filling in gaps in the action brilliantly. I like the aesthetic a lot because it reminds me of (cool) websites when I was a kid and there's a nice mix of roguelike/incremental gameplay which escalates to the point where the core gameplay mechanic of aiming Nubby to hit the most pegs becomes entirely irrelevant as all your bonuses win the round regardless. On my 5th and final run I used some halving bonuses to get to a point where as long as I hit literally anything I got the 'You broke the game' score for each round if you let it go long enough.
I get the impression from getting a broken run so quickly that there's maybe not much depth here, but I could definitely be wrong. There seem to be a variety of different modifiers to apply in the form of different 'supervisors' for your factory and plenty of unlockable skins to chase, but I'm good to stop here. Definitely an enjoyable experience and well made, but I'm too old to get sucked into yet another roguelike.
