Muse Dash
Waifus fight music
Why
- Pretty wide range of difficulties
- Songs play pretty differently to each other
- Enough tracks that there'll be a few which hit for anyone
- Monetisation seems very fair
Why Not
- Not incredibly fan-servicy, but there are some skins you wouldn't want your partner to see you using
- Some tracks require incredibly quick/well timed consecutive inputs, even on easy
Impressions
I took a flier on this since it was ~200yen and was pleasantly surprised; never tried rhythm games before but this probably won't be my last. The presentation and character designs are pretty gacha-y but it actually turned out to be F2P friendly; sure you can pay to unlock extra songs/characters but there are plenty of both to unlock for free and it didn't feel grindy to me. Up until ~50 one S rank on easy was enough to unlock the next song most of the time, and I had 6 characters + a pet unlocked by that point.
Getting there took about 4 hours and I think that's enough for me; the easy versions of tracks were a nice challenge but the hard+ are exactly the kind of hectic button mashing which initially made me think I'd suck at the genre. I had enough fun with what I did play to have some confidence I'll actually enjoy stuff like Unbeatable or Rhythm Doctor but will leave the higher levels to people with much faster reaction times/better senses of rhythm.
Well worth what I paid for it and could be worth a lot more to anyone who's really into the genre.
